Scoliosis Brace Wearing Instructions and Care
The method of putting on and removing the brace must strictly follow the instructions provided by the physician and orthotist.
Incorrect wearing duration, improper positioning, or inappropriate tightness may affect the corrective outcome and may also cause injury to the skin and muscles.
The following guidelines are provided for reference:
Adaptation Period:7–10 days. If necessary, this may be extended to approximately 14 days.
Full-time Brace:
On the first day, wear the brace for approximately 3–4 hours.
Increase wearing time by 1–2 hours each day until reaching 23 hours per day.
Nighttime Reinforcement Brace:
On the first night, wear the brace for approximately 2–3 hours.
Increase wearing time by 1–2 hours each night until reaching 8 hours per night.
At the beginning of use, the straps do not need to be tightened fully.
However, the tension should be gradually increased each day.
By the end of the adaptation period, all straps should be tightened to the maximum designated level.
(The orthotist will mark the maximum tightening point on the straps.)
Regular Follow-up Visits:
Follow-up appointments are necessary to monitor the adaptation process, assess any adverse reactions, ensure correct wearing, and perform X-ray evaluations to confirm the expected corrective effect.
Follow-up is recommended every three months.
Adjustments to the brace should be made only under the guidance of qualified professionals.
Do not attempt to adjust the brace самостоятельно.
Before wearing the brace, a close-fitting, breathable undergarment should be worn to protect the skin.
For convenience when using the restroom, it is recommended to wear underwear over the brace or to wear low-rise underwear.
When wearing the brace, daily activities can generally continue as normal.
The brace may be temporarily removed during bathing, eating, exercising, or physical education classes.
While wearing the brace, movement may be slightly restricted.
Mild redness may occur at pressure points but should not be painful or cause skin damage.
If redness, swelling, pain, or bruising occurs in any area, remove the brace immediately and contact us to schedule an adjustment.
Please record your height, weight, and waist circumference monthly.
If there are significant changes, please contact us to arrange an adjustment.
Brace Maintenance and Cleaning
